…perspective
have you ever thought about how we all can be in the same situation but each one sees it differently, depending on our perspective.
take for example a wedding. how would each person see it?
the bride?
the groom?
the fathers?
the mothers?
the old boy friend?
the old girl friend?
the single person who is afraid they aren’t going to find someone?
the one who just lost their mate to death?
the one whose mate just left them for someone else?
the janitor who has to clean it all up?
the minister who doesn’t have his sermon ready for tomorrow?
the bride’s maid who lost the ring?
the best man who is getting sleepy, real, real sleepy?
the caterer who is ready for 200 but 400 show up?
the man whose wife just caught him listening to march madness?
the woman whose cell phone rings at a very emotional part of the ceremony?
could it be if we could see through other people’s perspective, we might have more empathy, more understanding, more patience and no judgment? could it be…..?

One of the things I appreciate so much about Bill is that in the midst of one of the most special days of his life he can understand how everybody else is feeling! Weddings are like Christmas, an event with the best intent, yet our own histories shape how we react. For me, as a single woman of a certain age, weddings are bitter-sweet, and in order to participate in the joy of the event, I find myself having to overcome floods of memories and disappointments. I can’t imagine how anyone can go through life without a relationship with God and a loving church family. I know I’d be lost without mine!

It was beautiful in every sense - the weather, the church, our entire church family being together; knowing I was witnessing two people with genuine commitment and love being joined together in a marriage I’m sure will go well, seeing them being married by their fathers…
But if I attend a hundred more weddings, I know for sure I shall never experience anthing that can transcend the moment when Andrew sang to Steffi, letting us all share how much love he has for her. I am not only still moved by it, I’m deeply grateful to know that such love does exist, and that I got to be there to see it.
